The largest town in Haywood County is the county seat, Waynesville. Arriving on historic Main Street at the Old Courthouse you begin a journey through time down Main Street with its various displays of old-town architecture. Park the car and stroll along cobblestone sidewalks lined with art galleries, bakeries, specialty shops, working studios and restaurants. Festivals and special events keep visitors entertained – don’t miss Art After Dark on first Fridays of the month!

Waynesville will surprise you with some of the most beautiful mountain views in some very unlikely places. Everyone enjoys the leaf colors in fall and the live music on a cool summer eve. It is also host to the main Library and Post Office and numerous churches. Several prestigious golf courses (some of which are open to the public) and two modern Recreation Centers satisfy all age groups and help keep us in shape. Haywood Regional Hospital is located just off the 23/74 bypass.
